The Pipers

Pipe Major John Post
Most memorable event: My favourite event is Anzac Day.
What I get most out of the band: The social interaction with a group of people sharing a common interest in playing highland music, playing it well for our own enjoyment and also for the people we play for.

Pipe Sergeant Linden Neale
Most memorable event: My favourite event would have to be Anzac day, in particular the Dawn Service.
What I get most out of the band: What I like about being in the band- the camaraderie of the members- we're a social band and we can fit in the practices as well as our busy lives and families

Pipe Sergeant Rolfe Chrystal
Most memorable event: The most memorable event would have to be my first playing engagement with the band, even though it seems such a long time ago now. It was at Bundanoon, a freezing cold morning, and trying to get all of the belts, sporran, sock flashes and spats etc in the right place at the right angle seemed almost impossible. Of course there have been many memorable events since then; like marching behind the flashing blue lights of the police car at 4.30am in the morning at Homebush on Anzac Day; a former band member who arrived at Bundanoon without his pipes; and playing at the funeral of one of our most stalwart of members - Nigel.
What I get most out of the band: The varied occupations, ages and interests of the band members make for a fascinating mix of people who are gathered together for the same purpose, and that is playing music that stirs the soul and reaches so many people in a way most of them find difficult to express.

Piper Fraser Smith
Most memorable event: Anzac Day, the sound the location and most of all playing in the dawn service at the Martin Place cenotaph.
What I get most out of the band: What I get out of the band is playing with a group of fellow enthusiasts who all enjoy the sound of pipes and the beat of the drums.

Piper Peter Todd
Most memorable event: I would have to say that that my favourite event was my first Anzac day.
What I get most out of the band: The thing I get most out of being a member of the band is the Camaraderie with the other band members. The Band has a great community feel to it.

Piper Ben Holgate
Most memorable event: The aberdeen highland games would have to be my favoured event of the year. Aberdeen just has this great small town feel to it. From Piping in the Top Pub on friday night, to marching on saturday, dancing into the wee hours of the morning at the Ceilidh on saturday night and then having BBQ'd haggis for breakfast on sunday, what a simply amazing weekend!
What I get most out of the band: The thing I enjoy most about being in the band is the interaction with the other band members. I love the tuesday night practice sessions and when we are out and about doing our thing. Although there is the serious aspect to learning the songs and getting them right, we all have fun doing it and that is what I like most.

Piper John Robertson
Most memorable event: Dawn Service and Anzac Day in Sydney city, 2005 - awesome sensation playing to thousands of people and hearing their enjoyment.
What I get most out of the band: Comradeship and the meeting of like minds, learning a new skill and putting it to use.

Piper Phil Ennis
Most memorable event: My first Anzac Day – 2005. How good was it? From the trip into the city at 2.30am, the dawn service when all the lights go out, the march through the city and finally MASSED BANDS – totally awesome experience. Finishing off at Glenorie RSL in the afternoon and evening rounHD ds off a long but truly inspirational day.
What I get most out of the band: Camaraderie, discipline and the challenge of playing well are probably the three most important things for me but I also get great pleasure from the enjoyment we so obviously bring to our audiences.

Piper Malcolm MacDonald
Most memorable event: Our annual ball is so far my most memorable event. It being my first event also makes it special.
What I get most out of the band: I like mostly playing the music and being with a group of people who also enjoy it.
